A senior civil judge and additional chief judicial magistrate currently posted in Vadodara has filed a complaint against his wife, her two alleged paramours, his father-in-law and brother-in-law with Sayajigunj police station on Saturday. He lodged a complaint against his wife for adultery while her alleged paramours were booked for enticing a married woman with criminal intent. In June last year, judge Ashutosh Raj Pathak’s wife Himani had also lodged a complaint against him with Mahila police station alleging domestic violence and demanding dowry. In his complaint, the judge has alleged that when he was posted as a civil judge in Bharuch, his wife came in contact with a stenographer of Bharuch court identified as Shrijit Pillai. Pillai and his wife first met when the former used to come to the houses of judicial officers to take dictation. After exchanging their mobile phone numbers, they started chatting through messages and over calls, the judge has alleged. He also told the cops that they used to talk for hours over the phone.
Police said that the judge learnt about his wife’s alleged affair when he overheard her phone conversation in February 2015. When he confronted her, she admitted of their illicit conversations over social media and calls with Pillai. According to the judge’s complaint, his wife also admitted of having a physical relationship with Pillai. When the judge informed his in-laws about his wife’s illicit relation, she gave an undertaking on a stamp paper for not repeating it and requesting him to forgive her.
However, the judge mentioned in his complaint that she continued her relationship with Pillai and her school friend Priyank Malkan, who has also been named accused. In September 2015, the couple decided to file for divorce but reversed the decision after the intervention of family members. However, when she continued her relationship, the judge filed for divorce at family court in Godhra in March 2017. The judge had also given an application to the police in Vadodara to file a case against his wife. He has alleged that that his wife gave a complaint at Mahila police station to save herself. H B Vora, police inspector, Sayajigunj police station, said, "We registered the case on Saturday after getting the complaint. A police sub-inspector is probing the case and further action will be taken as investigation proceeds.”
