The Journey So Far - with Swarup Sarkar (concluding part)

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

#PurushPaksh is an attempt to understand and document the issues that affect men. It is an initiative of Daaman, a part of the Save Indian Family (SIF) Movement, the Men’s Rights Movement (MRM) in India.

In the first four-part series, Daaman interviews few renowned Men’s Rights Activists of the country, and unravels the journey so far. From the start of the movement to the challenges and the roadblocks that hit the work, reminisced with the people who have given their life & blood to the cause. The journey so far shines with small achievements and leaves a lot to be done ahead. These activists share their thoughts on the past, present and the future of the MRM.

Episode 2: In continuation of part 1, Swarup Sarkar explains that as after some years the tribe increased on the virtual platforms, few early zealots ventured to meet annually in an event that goes on to be termed as the National Meet of the SIF. Sarkar clearly credits his vision on choosing the free advice and association model over the paid model of help that prefers to charge a certain fee from each victim that approaches for help. So much so, that over this ideological difference he willingly let go some of his early associates who shared the stage with him through the early years of the fight. As a true visionary, he is open about people coming and leaving the organisation but his undaunted commitment to the cause shows when he says that the movement should survive every thick and thin of time.
